sparkleys.

One things for sure with me and jewelry- I am loyal.  Years ago I sort of discovered who I am when accessorizing.  An old soul so to speak- I love pieces that look like they belonged to someone else in an earlier time -especially a someone who was gawdy, sparkley, and a little too much.  Example: I've been called Zsa Zsa Gabor.  Google her.  My favorite pieces are classic, special, and have a little something different about them.  One of a kinds are my favorites!  Gawdy gold , jewels, chunks, I love it all!  I'm FEAR less!  I don't really believe in a "too much" rule either.  Coco Chanel said that before leaving the house a women should look in the mirror and take one piece of jewelry off.   This way she'll know she hasn't overdone it.  I say thanks Coco, but with ALL due respect,  I'm wearing it all.

That's not to say  I can't appreciate the more discrete and less obvious side of jewelry too.  Lucky for me however, this season is mine and my favorites are making a comeback!  And a word of advice for jewelry- its about accessorizing YOU and expressing who you are.  So don't let the magazines or the accessory counters or the blogs ( OK maybe mine but I'm legit) define you.  Wear it because you love it and OWN it.  You will be GLAM no matter what.  enjoy ! ciao ciao

This summer and fall I'm seeing color, texture, bigger statement pieces and a definite vintage feel for sure.  And I'm in loooooooove:

lets get our head in the right place with this I'm DYING for summer look from Elle.com
Sapphire/emerald diamond ring Bulgari

When it comes to necklaces I'm faithful to my single strand of pearls.  They will NEVER die.  But on a trip to Italy in 2006 I found these adorable Fendi charms in Rome:
I got an "i' for my name and while in New York last year I got an "a" charm for my daughters name at the fifth ave Fendi.  It's kind of a tradition now and I always get complimented on them. They have every letter and they attach to any chain.  Best part is the charms are only $20 !

leila jewelry $48
kitson

Name and word necklaces have been a craze since the "Carrie" and later "Lauren" sightings.  This season you can get a little less personal and support your favorite hood.  Mine says Paris. :) These are also available in Malibu and Los Angeles.  Sorry Vegas.  PS. the official web cite for the name plate necklaces is http://www.evesaddition.com/ .  It's your one stop shop for personal pieces.

When I wear charm and pendant necklaces I like to layer. Even if one layer is just a chain I like the texture. This wishbone is subtle but still very stylist and sweet:

"house of harlow" abalone star bust $75

One of my fashion ICONS, my muse if you will, Nicole Richie launched her own jewelry line named after her daughter, Harlow.  This is a GREAT piece that adds color and sass.  Loves it.

Look, with rings I'd wear a ring on every finger, no joke.  One is never enough.  How happy was I when I found my first two finger ring a few years ago.  Shocker- they're all the rave. A few years ago I met an L.A. based designer by the name of Melody Ehsani at a fashion trade show here in Las Vegas. Her pieces were fabulous and she has since grown into an amazing brand of jewelry and shoes.   I first saw the multi finger rings here and they are unlike anything you'll find in stores. She has an edge and her work is definitely recognizable. She uses vibrant plexiglass and gold and silver metals. Girly but fierce.  You can personalize pieces at melodyeshani.com or shop pieces like these at karmaloop.com:

fashion pioneering at its best. BOOM!

These are a little simpler but I love:

j'adore ring $4 (STEAL!)
forever 21
*also available in black and silver

purple label three hearts $35
80spurple.com

crystal connector ring $6
forever 21

If you're going to wear just one , make sure it makes a statement.  A cocktail ring should be able to stand ALONE.  Make it count:

golen calla ring $158
anthropologie

noir gold fish $125
80spurple.com

Bracelets should be a cinch:  if you like it, put it on.  There are no rules for me.  Wait, I take that back.  Silver and gold combos make my eyes hurt.  Other than that, the more the merrier.  Texture, color, variety- get it!  Both wrists are okay too! Rachel Zoe loves it.  So its the law.  This season Zoe and I agree CUFFS are crucial:

cuff love $15

For every day try multiple strands for an easy dose of glam.  This piece gives you layers and colors all in one.  Wear a few like this:

rope bracelet $28
urban outfitters

Watches do so much more than tell time.  LOVE menswear:

"daddy knows best " $30

I'm not REALLY an earring girl.  This is simply because I'm usually pretty weighed down before I get a chance to think about my ears and my pretty long weave cover them most of the time.  I won't leave them out though,  these remind me so much of that Elle preview we died over earlier:

dressed up to dazzle earring $20 (but they don't break the bank)

Pair these with a cocktail ring and you are so set. Loves.

I love this next pair because they are SO vintagey.  Leaves and flowers are some of my favorites.  In fact, I found a pendant just like these at Savers for $4.  I also got a pair of earrings like the dazzles at the Salvation Army.  Don't forget about thrift stores.  They're goldmines!

"don't leaf without us" $20

hope you loved.

principal shoes

First Blog!! Thought  I'd discuss something near and dear to every woman's heart: shoes and men.

I mean.. all it took was one day, and one shoe- and I haven't heard the end of it.  A couple of months ago at work I wore a pair of strappy (the straps were a little thick but whatever) dark brown wedge heels.  I'd had them for almost 2 years but they were your basic day time wedge. Or no?  I admit I usually wear flip flops when I work at the pool but I was working with the tallest girl EVER and wanted to look as NON hobbit as possible.  Within the first five minutes of work my boyfriend whispered ever so casually and completely seriously - "I don't like your shoes".

I was comPLETely shocked.  Like, how do you respond to that? I mean everyone always likes what I wear I'm a pro for god's sake; I'm the one everyone asks about these things.  I gave him the stinkiest look I could pull off without pouting, turned, and stormed off, stomping the entire way.  I mean it wasn't my favorite shoe but its a wedge, you cant REALLY go wrong! But the shocker was that I immediately walked downstairs and CHANGED into flip flops.  And that's not all- after my shift I shamefully LEFT the heels in the bathroom, forever.

Well, the shoes were gone but the joke will live on FOREVER.  He calls me the principal, the cafeteria lady, any occupation that involves ugly shoes.  I've never given a DAMN about what anyone thinks about my usually outlandish and unconventional ensembles.  Furthermore, without the risk of tooting my own horn I am usually praised for the things I pull off - hell I made it into a business.  So why did it bother me SO much that he didn't like ONE shoe? Why do I feel like I need a xanax every time I pick out a shoe for a date now?  This man wears Dickies shorts and white Hanes t shirts every day why should I take his advice anyway?

It got me thinking- Do women care that much about what our men think of our wardrobe?  Do guys look at these things more than we think they do? Do single girls have it easier? Or do they have it worst because they have to complete with other women in other shoes?  I mean I feel like Cinderella- if its the wrong shoe- your screwed!

At the end of the day, I always feel pretty in a pretty shoe and its always like a cherry on top when he thinks its pretty too.

So I've done the work for you and after some research-  here are my picks for fall.  Weather your on a budget or a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas- here's something for all of us!  Girls will drool, boys will swoon. I promise. enjoy dolls
