SAGS

Award season is in full swing !!  I loved the SAGS fashion this year.  My favorites were the neutral and soft color pallets with the exception of a fabulous McQueen.   Super girly colors, textures (sparkles, feathers, sequins) and ready for spring tones made this carpet verrry pretty.  Of course I can't blog without talking smack about my non favorites and I'm super shocked by a few of them.  lets gooooo!

sunnies!

hi my name is iliki and I'm a sunnies a holic.  I wear them until its super awkward to be wearing them because its dark and I'm indoors.  I especially love them because I despise putting makeup on and they cover my un painted face on a daily basis. LOVES.  Spring brings .. well.. creativity to say the least in the sunnies department.  The runways were full of different shapes colors sizes and eras.  Here's the latest.  But look, you have to wear what fits YOU best and that may not be teensy lil john lennons or huge retro prints.  I will NEVER let go of my Jackie O's and you shouldn't get rid of your favs either .  but here are some options and i kept em wallet friendly because if you're like ME you can't have just one pair.. so why not have a bunch!

golden globizzles

okay okay so I'm a liiiittle late.  My baby shower was on the same weekend as the globes but rest assured I watched, I judged and here we go.  This year I liked the nude/champagne tones that were very popular.   But I also LOVED the sequin adorned vintage feels and pops of color that we saw.  All in all, I was MOSTLY impressed.  With award season in full swing I'm looking forward to whats next :)  Now, lets gossip:

Here are my three faves in order :

  Emma stone in Calvin Klein
love the simple sexy, sleek, cut, color and fit.  Her clutch adds a pop of shimmer and everything works perfectly. bravo.

Angelina jolie-Pitt in Atelier Versace
Every time the camera flashed on these two so I was sooo impressed.  LOVE this gown.  So old Hollywood glam.  Brad looks dapper in Tom Ford and the two were killing me with cuteness the whole time.  Again, in my eyes its VERY hard to mess up sequins I DIEEE.

Annie in giorgio armani prive
my fav!!  I meeaaaaaaan this dress takes my two faves of the night: nude champagne colors and over the top sequins and blends the two perfectly.  She owned it-
She looks teensy tiny perfection.  GO ZOE.

honorable mention:

natalie portman in viktor + rolf
Gotta give it up for the glowing, pregnant Natalie.  Being pregnant myself I applaud her for showing off the bump so sweetly.  It's. not. always. easy.  I love the long flowy feel and the color is on point as well.  yay for mommies rocking the carpet.

NOT SO MUCH:

January Jones in Versace
meh.  a little "sexed" up for the golden globes.  The cut outs aren't my favorite and the hair is so glam it just doesn't match. poo.

Michelle Williams in Valentino
whaaaaaaat.  She usually does SO well on the carpet.  Such a miss.  I get her vintage inspired, corky
style but this is just a di sas ter for me.  yick.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Muhad
eew.  As a presenter I was sooo let down with this gown.  Maybe without the matronly.com "shawl" it would've been okay but c'mon.  She looked SO beautiful from the neck up. What a disappointment.

for the girl on a budget!

I was chatting with a girlfriend and she expressed how much she enjoys reading celebrity fashion advice but that sometimes its hard to relate to where the glitterati send the "average" girl to shop.  I.e. We aren't at Barneys every day and our closets aren't exACTly full of Chanel.  I try to always keep my must haves on an obtainable level for the woman on a budget but I thought I'd make it super easy this time so I've compiled a must have and CAN have comparison for my favorites from sjp's Halston heritage line featured right before this post.  Scroll down and remind yourself.  In other words, you don't have to splurge and you can still get the look..
Take Notes :)

The first look was a crossover short dress for $295
Here's the must GET version:

Grecian metallic by rare opulence
topshop.com $50

2nd look was a mesh jersey one shoulder black mini for $295  Here's the must get:
velour one shoulder mini
forever 21 $18

It's still super sexy and a quarter of the price.  I'm loving the velvet trend right now and this dress does it perfectly.

3rd look was a to die for pleated chiffon gown priced at $895.  My alternative is short, but more ideal for the everyday girl's agenda:

tiered pleated mini
forever 21 $23

Next look, the jersey mesh jumpsuit at $395.  So vintage, which is hot right now with the 1970' s throwbacks for spring .  Here's my go GET it pick:

tan cut out slinky jumper
topshop.com $55

Lastly, sjp wore a basic striped top priced at $195.  And now, the look for less :

"keep me company" top
modcloth.com $40

Now go get em my style minions!!!
